Website Updates

I have been focusing on getting my websites a bit more organized as of late.

I posted all new photos on the website for my jewelry line:

Additionally, I started a new website to showcase my publications:

Go take a look!  I'm quite excited about all this change.

In additional exciting news, my newest publication, "OK Cupid Messages I Have Not Responded To" made the #1 spot on the bestseller list at Quimby's Books in Chicago!

New Publication: OK Cupid Messages I Have Not Responded To

I have just finished a new publication, titled:  OK Cupid Messages I Have Not Responded To.  As the title suggests, these are real messages I received during my stint on the online dating website OK Cupid.

"These unanswered messages are here presented as a brief glimpse into the world of online dating.  This publication brags no ability to summarize the online dating experience, but instead exists to provide entertainment to its readers (though not at the expense of the message authors, whose identities remain anonymous)."

This publication was printed in an edition of 70 copies. Each copy is hand-numbered, stamped with the date of the edition's completion and bound by hand with bookbinding thread.  The covers were printed on vintage construction paper.  They are available now in my etsy shop and will be for sale at the Portland Zine Symposium next month.

Peep No. 20 is Finally Finished!

I got called off my shift tonight and instead of pouting about it I figured I'd do something productive. So, I finished issue 20 of my vaguely ongoing serial zine, Peep. Peep has been in existence since January of 2008 and I am very proud to keep it going.

Issue 20 features a recipe for biscuits, helpful life tips, a mad lib written by yours truly and much more. For this edition I tried a new technique and hand-bound each zine using a simple "three-hole punch" bookbinding stitch. This will make the spines stronger and more capable of withstanding many readings and perusals. Additionally, each zine is hand-numbered and stamped with today's date. It was produced in a limited edition of 65 copies.

Interested? Order it on my Etsy page!

Algeria: Notes on an Unfamiliar Place

I just finished a zine featuring my father's travelogues about Algeria. He and my mother moved there about a year ago to join the foreign service and work at the US embassy in Algiers. The text in the zine is written by him and edited by yours truly. I also did the illustrations and compiled the whole thing. It was a big hit at last weekend's Portland Zine Symposium. This zine (and others) are now available on my Etsy page.

New Zine: Paint Our Town

For the past few months I have been working on a zine about the process of creating a public art mural in Portland. It is very complicated and this zine was commissioned to explain the process in an easily understandable (and attractive) fashion. I finally finished it last week! Here are some pictures. We are distributing these for free, so let me know if you would like one.

New Zine: "Room Service"

Just in time for the 10th Annual Portland Zine Symposium this coming weekend I have finished my new zine, entitled "Room Service."

Artist Statement:

The contents of this zine were compiled during my two-year employment at a hotel restaurant. I found the variety of abbreviations used on the room service order-taking sheets to be very interesting. I present to you here a dissected study of said order sheets, loosely organized by category. It serves as a fascinating study of abbreviations, handwriting and dining preferences.

You can find this zine at the Zine Symposium, as well as online at my etsy shop.

I just finished another issue of my serial zine, Peep. This is issue number 18. Peep generally features just about everything but the kitchen sink. This time it includes an amazing curry recipe, as well as some interesting quotes and information as well as some documentation of security envelope patterns. See it at etsy.com!

On a related note, I have posted the printed greeting cards that I put up on this blog not too long ago on Etsy as well.

Check it all out here.

"Moleskinexcavation"

"Moleskinexcavation" is a new 36 page zine I just finished.

Artist Statement:

"'Moleskinexcavation' is a zine that aims to excavate, categorize, and present in an alternative fashion the contents of the most recent finished Moleskine notebook of one Delphine Bedient (also the publisher of this zine). The notebook served as her sketchbook, journal, note-taking device, list receptacle and general mental catch-all and was with her at all times during its use. This retrospective examination results in an unintentional self portrait and a comment on what we find inportant enough to write down."

I will be selling this zine, in addition to my semi-monthly zine, Peep, at the Portland Zine Symposium this weekend. The symposium is being held on the second floor of the Smith Student Union on the Portland State University campus. Check the website for more detailed information and tabling times. I will have a table on the 24th (Friday) and the 26th (Sunday).

If you will be in the Portland area this weekend please stop by and say hello!

You can also buy my zines here.
