Bench Observation Project

Recently I was struck by the random existence of a concrete bench at the intersection of NE 3rd Avenue and NE Weidler Street. The bench, situated across the street from a 7-11 convenience store, has no obvious purpose (not being associated with a bus stop and not bearing any sort of advertising). I have decided to spend some sort of time on this bench every day and record my observations.

Stay tuned for updates.

Submissions Needed for a New Library Project!

I am curating a temporary library at Field Work! I need submissions to make this happen. I’m interested in anything and everything. I also need bookshelves on temporary loan. Let me know (mademoiselledelphine@gmail.com) if you’re interested in contributing, and please share this with anyone in Portland, Oregon!

The Synthesis Series

Check out this great article in the Portland Mercury about The Synthesis Series, a three-part, twelve artist collaboration project that I am a part of. It involves three different art shows, the first of which happened on December 3rd at Research Club. The project is being curated by Tori Abernathy, who also curates at Recess Gallery.

I worked on a project with ChloƩ Womack analyzing casual conversations through the invention and use of a "Conversation Scorecard." At the show the viewer was invited to participate by filling out one of the blank cards on the wall. Here are some photos of the installation. Stay tuned for more information about the next show.

Mapping by Mail: An Open Invitation to Collaborate

I am currently working on a project with the general theme of mapping. In conjunction with this project I am beginning an experiment in mapping by mail. It is open to everyone in all places, and I think geographical diversity is fantastic, so the more the merrier.

I would love for you to participate! It requires a very low-level commitment. Essentially, I will send you something in the mail, most likely a blank postcard (pre-stamped, pre-addressed) and you will do something with said postcard (I will include instructions as I figure it out) and then send it back to me.

If you'd be at all willing to help out please reply with your mailing address. Thanks in advance for your help!

Lost Poster (10.15.2009)

I lost one of my favorite earrings last week and thus I made a lost poster for it. Update: The earring was found earlier this week and I will be getting it back very soon!

Found!
